Studio Policies
Cancellation Policy
24-hour notification is required to reschedule a lesson if an absence occurs. If notice is given within 24-hours of the lesson, you will still be charged for the lesson regardless of the reason. Please understand that when committing to lessons, The Song Spot is reserving a time slot for you that cannot be filled by other customers. If notification is given before 24 hours, the student has 30 days to reschedule the lesson. If the lesson is not scheduled and used within 30 days, the credit will expire. Makeup lessons cannot be rescheduled regardless of notice. If the teacher is unable to make the lesson for any reason, you will have the choice of rescheduling or being refunded the lesson amount to your account.
Required Materials
All students should have a folder or binder to keep lesson materials in and a notebook to write down assignments. Students should also have a metronome and tuner (apps for both are acceptable) if applicable. Most importantly, if studying an instrument other than voice, the student must have the instrument in good working condition that they can use to practice throughout the week. Students will be responsible for purchasing learning materials such as sheet music, songbooks, tracks, and other related materials. While it is the student’s responsibility to purchase these materials, the teacher will provide links and resources to help the student find them. In certain situations, I will order the materials (such as beginning piano and theory books) so that they may be purchased through The Song Spot at the student’s convenience.
Practice Expectations
Students are expected to practice outside of their private lesson each week. Notable progress is seen when students are practicing daily for at least 15-30 mins/day, including a 5-10 minute warm up.
Inclement Weather Policy
The Song Spot will follow local school closures for inclement weather. In the event of school closure due to inclement weather, lessons will be conducted via Zoom. Students under 7 years old will be allowed to reschedule for an in-person time. I will contact students the morning of their regularly scheduled lesson to notify them of the change. No make-ups will be given due to inclement weather as zoom is an option.
Holidays
The Song Spot follows a unique 48-week calendar which gives students an average of 4 lessons/month throughout the year. Lessons canceled on these days do not need to be rescheduled. Federal holidays are observed such as Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and New Year’s Day as well as a summer and winter holiday break. The studio will not conduct lessons on these days for monthly subscription students. If students purchasing a single lesson would like to take lessons on these days they may reach out to their teacher to coordinate. A copy of the calendar is emailed to each student at the beginning of the year or upon starting lessons.
Monthly Subscription Contract Termination
This agreement will automatically renew each month and will remain in effect until written notice (email or letter) is given of your intent to terminate. Notice to terminate must be given at least 30-days in advance to thesongspotus@gmail.com in order to cancel your appointment time and end your subscription. Admin can pro-rate notice (i.e. if you terminate on the 15th, we can prorate to the 15th of the next month) if you would not like to do a full month at the end of the contract. This will be processed as an additional payment for 30-days notice. 30 days notice is needed to cancel or change a lesson subscription.
