The Song Spot

The Song Spot Studios

Demo Recording in Nashville

A recording studio in downtown Nashville built for independent artists and up and coming singer-songwriters.
1-hour sessions available to help prep you before and during the recording process. Learn how to create a chord and lyrics sheet using the Nashville Number system and receive vocal/instrumental guidance through the recording process.

At The Song Spot, we won’t hold your master’s hostage until you pay us a large fee. Your master’s and copyright is included in the recording fee- as long as you give the producer and session musicians credit when you make it big 😉

We want you to be the master’s of your own music destiny- and having a ton of hidden fees tends to not be helpful for independent artists already on a budget. The demo package + 1 in-person session (for recording your vocals or instrument) is all you need to create your project.

Not only do we want you to be involved, we want you to learn as you go.

At The Song Spot, we want you to have creative control over your recording project without the burden of doing everything yourself. You’ll have a recording engineer at your disposal to walk you through the process of building and recording your original song.

The Process

Send in your original song (no worries if it’s just a melody, or maybe only lyrics!) through the submission form. Voice memos or a one-take in Garageband work perfect for this. If you don’t have a recording and just want to learn more about the process, fill out the form and ask away.
Once we get the ball rolling, you can choose which package you’d like to use. We offer Simple (1 Instrument + Vocal), Acoustic (3 Instruments + Vocal), and Full Band (5 Instruments + Vocal). Once purchased, then the real recording fun begins!
Your song materials (which are the chord/lyric sheet, click track, and any other notes you have for the song) will be sent to the producer. From there, the producer will record and begin mixing the instrumental of your song. Don’t know what a chord sheet is? Schedule a 60-min session with the producer to learn about the Nashville Number System and work through arranging your track!
This recording session will be where you record vocals and any other instrument you would like to play (if applicable). Our producer/vocal coach will be there on site to guide you through the process and offer advice if desired on different takes. Recording sessions are an additional hourly rate.
The producer will add your vocals, harmonies, and any other tracks you may have recorded for into the instrument track for final mixing and mastering. This will take 3-5 business days to return. We want you to be the most excited about your track, so up two revisions are included in the package.
Now that it’s all finished, the song is yours to share with the world! Feel free to post it wherever and make sure you tag The Song Spot when you do! Song can be used on EPs, as singles, for pitching, and more. A lot of hard work went into your song at this point and you should be proud!

Listen.

FAQs

Not at all! Our vocal coaches are here to support you at every level, whether you’re a complete singing beginner or a seasoned gigging professional. Our vocal instructors hold both undergraduate and graduate degrees in voice performance and vocal pedagogy and are actively performing in the local scene. This means they not only possess the expertise on “how to sing” but also the practical experience to accelerate your progress toward your goals. In other words, even if your experience is simply singing to yourself, it counts!

This common question often arises: Can anyone learn to sing? While you can expect to notice progress after your very first lesson with the right vocal coach, it’s crucial to recognize that your voice is essentially a muscle—the vocal folds—that requires time and practice to achieve improved coordination for singing. Typically, singers experience an immediate difference when they begin lessons, but the most substantial vocal improvements tend to manifest between 3 to 6 months into lessons, with lasting vocal habits solidifying over 1 to 2 years. Just like sculpting a six-pack, vocal development isn’t an overnight process, so it’s essential to pace yourself on your journey to vocal excellence.

Our lessons are $50 for a half hour and $95 for an hour lessons. We offer a discounted rate if you are looking for more cost effective lessons through the monthly subscription program. The rates for our monthly subscription are $188/month for half hour and $370/month for hour lessons.

Our free consultation is one of our best services for someone who wants to try a voice lesson before committing. At the consultation, you will meet either in-person or virtually with the instructor of your choice and get a feel for who they are and how they teach to see if you will be a good team! The instructor will go over your goals, what you want to accomplish in lessons, and walk you through some basic vocal exercises and give you their feedback. Interested? Sign up here!
