When you think of Nashville, you probably picture live music, neon lights, and the buzz of Broadway—but for one group of friends visiting from out of town, the real Nashville experience meant something more: making music together.
They reached out to The Song Spot to see if we could squeeze them in for a group singing lesson during their trip—and we were thrilled to say yes! What started as a spontaneous idea turned into a weekend of creativity, connection, and newfound confidence.
Why Book a Group Lesson While You’re in Music City?
As many know, Nashville is lovingly called Music City—and for good reason. While there’s plenty of musicians and performers to see, it’s also a place to invest in your own musical growth. Whether music is your profession, your hobby, or a long-lost dream, a lesson is the perfect way to:
- Explore your creative side
- Work with a professional vocal coach for personalized feedback
- Build confidence and skills in your voice or isntrument—no matter your starting point
And here’s the best part: it doesn’t have to be a solo activity. At The Song Spot, we regularly host group guitar, voice, and songwriting lessons for friends, partners, or families looking to make meaningful memories together.
From Curious to Confident: A Weekend at The Song Spot
Our visiting trio began with a split setup—two of them worked with one coach for a group lesson, and the third had a private session with me. At the end of the hour, we brought everyone together for a mini recital to share the songs they had worked on.
What started as a fun one-off turned into a full weekend of music!
Two of the guys came back the next day for a deeper dive into technique and even chose new songs to work on.
One of them had initially walked in saying, “I’ve never really sung—and I didn’t even like playing the clarinet in school.” You could feel the hesitation like “I guess we’ll see how this goes.”
But by the end of the lesson? He found his voice—and some unexpected confidence.
In fact, he loved it so much, he came back the next day for another group voice lesson with another member of his group.
The friend who set it all up was so inspired by the group experience over the past two days that he booked a 1.5-hour private vocal coaching session with me to really refine his vocal technique. What began as, “I like to sing in the car and sometimes at karaoke and I think this would be fun to do with some friends,” evolved into:
- Understanding breath support
- Learning advanced vocal runs
- And making real, lasting progress in his first ever voice lesson!
Together, we tackled songs that once felt “impossible” because they were too high or in the wrong key—and made them singable and fun.
Lessons That Go Beyond Music
Music lessons aren’t just for kids after school.
When you work with the right coach, a single session can help you:
- Connect with your body and breath
- Try something new in a safe, encouraging space
- Build self-confidence through creative expression
I’m so grateful these three stopped by the studio and gave us the opportunity to work with them. It was a joy to witness their progress—and to be part of their Nashville story.

“I highly recommend a singing lesson or two (or more) here for anyone or any group who wants an authentic “Nashville” experience. A voice lesson is a great daytime activity or group acitivity for a bachelorette party, guys trip, corporate event, a group of conference attendees, etc.
The owner Dana will work with you to craft a custom session that will suit your needs. She responds quickly to inquiries. She is fine with one-off lessons; you don’t have to commit to a course. Our group of 4 guys booked 2 semi-private lessons for 2 people each. That worked out nicely. We enjoyed them so much we took more lessons during our trip.
We had lessons with Dana and Daniel. Both are fantastic singing teachers. I came with two songs I wanted to sing better at karaoke. Over the course of a few sessions, I efficiently learned many different signing techniques and they got me singing my two songs a million times better. A gift that will keep on giving.” – John Smith
Thanks for letting us be part of your journey, and as always…Happy singing!
